Hosting in Indonesia involves the national federation, two ministries, the National Olympic Committee and a host province. Kemenpora brings them to one table.
The Ministry of Youth and Sport's Deputy for Sports Industry Development is your first call. It convenes the national federation, the Ministry of Tourism, the National Olympic Committee (KOI) and the host province's sport office for you.
Under the Sports Law (UU 11/2022) and its regulation (PP 46/2024), international championships are staged with the national federation and need government approval. We guide you through the federation recommendation, the ministry's approval and the police event permit.
Athletes and team officials enter on the sports visit visa (index C8, 60 days, extendable), lodged online by the Indonesian host as guarantor. Journalists and broadcast crews use the C5 journalist visa with an invitation letter from the organizer.
Indonesia accepts the ATA Carnet, issued and guaranteed by Kadin Indonesia, for sports equipment, broadcast kit and exhibition material. Goods without a carnet can use customs temporary admission with duty exemption when re-exported.
A listing on the Indonesia Sport Calendar and this site, and a path into the Ministry of Tourism's Karisma Event Nusantara programme, which curates and promotes 125 events a year through national tourism channels and industry partners.
There is no open grant scheme for foreign event owners. The ministry does co-fund world-level championships in Indonesia through the national federation, as it did for the 2025 world championships in climbing, surfing and gymnastics, and this is discussed once an event is sanctioned.
Tell us about the event, the sport, the dates you have in mind and what you need. We reply within ten working days with a first view on feasibility and the right partners.
