Seventeen thousand islands sounds daunting, but the sport calendar runs through a handful of well-connected cities. Domestic flights, trains, ride-hailing apps and boats cover every venue.
Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Batik Air, Lion Air, AirAsia Indonesia and Super Air Jet fly between Jakarta, Bali, Lombok, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and the other host cities many times a day. Book directly with the airline or through the major booking apps.
The flight between Denpasar and Lombok is a short hop, the fastest way to reach Mandalika if you are arriving through Bali. Jakarta to Bali and Jakarta to Yogyakarta are both easy same-day connections.
Flights into Lombok around the MotoGP weekend and into Yogyakarta and Bali around marathon weekends sell out early and prices rise. Book as soon as your event tickets are confirmed, and carry your passport for domestic check-in.
Journey times are typical and vary with traffic and weather. Rail times are from the operators (KCIC and KAI); check schedules before you travel.
