Forty-metre longboats with 60 paddlers each race the Kuantan River at Riau's biggest cultural festival.
Pacu Jalur is a centuries-old longboat race held on the Batang Kuantan river in Riau. Each jalur is carved from a single tree trunk and crewed by up to 60 paddlers, with a dancer riding the bow. The finals at Teluk Kuantan draw hundreds of thousands of spectators over several days.
